Liquid vitamins vs Pills – What is right for you?

It is now commonly recognized that our body is able to absorb vitamins better in liquid rather than in pill form. Liquid vitamins can bypass the digestive process and go directly into the bloodstream within minutes. In fact, studies have shown that the body absorbs approximately 98 percent of the vitamins and minerals contained in liquid form whereas it may typically only absorb anywhere from 3 to 20 percent of the vitamins in a pill form.
But is that enough to switch from solid pills to liquid supplements?
Some may find that taking liquid vitamins is easier while others may prefer the convenience of taking a series of pills, but as we age, larger pills and gel caps become harder to swallow.
We believe there is another major reason why we should favor certain liquid supplements over pills. Most supplements will include both vital nutrients that keep the body strong and healthy and they are important building blocks of our cells. Some supplements also include antioxidants that play an important role in the prevention of age-related diseases. Cells oxidize when pollutants or diseases strike the body but cells also oxidize by the simple metabolism process. Digestion for example creates free radicals that scavenge for electrons through our cells. Antioxidants are compounds that willingly abandon an extra electron to free radicals so that the cells in our body do not have to go through that sacrifice. Our body needs a constant supply of antioxidants to be able to properly reduce the oxidation of cells. Though pills are beneficial they often bring a spike in the supply of antioxidants and the excess that cannot be processed by the body is eliminated. Liquid supplements on the other hand, allow for the intake to be spread throughout the day.
Choosing a liquid vitamin over pills, when practical, may allow for a more steady supply of these important antioxidants. We firmly believe that it is more beneficial to dilute our daily dose of liquid supplement in a bottle of water and drink it evenly throughout the day.
Always talk to your doctor before making the switch from pill vitamins to liquid vitamins, especially if you are under the care of a doctor for a medical condition as you may run a risk of absorbing too many vitamins which could interact with other drugs or cause a toxin overload in the body.
